Adult Attachment Interview Assessment

This assessment allows individuals to gain insight into what drives or constrains them in relationships.  Our attachment style operates below conscious level and reflects our sense of how much closeness, distance, trust, and vulnerability seems appropriate or feels safe.  Our individual style also determines what we expect to receive or give in relationships without feeling overrun or abandoned.   Greater awareness and understanding of these dynamics can create opportunities for building intimacy and trust with those closest to us.  


This information can also be extremely important in the area of foster and adoptive care.  Because of the effects of chronic trauma on the children in the foster care system, they need parents who will be able to attune to their particular needs.  The interview can provide insight into how existing and prospective parents naturally operate in relationships and their strengths and challenges in that process.   This assessment yields understanding and direction for all parents in the process of learning to be better parents and enhances an agency's ability to select, train, and support families in that same process.
